Super stoked to be back in Lulu after a few months away and separated from her.
Perth in June is cold, so I have chosen to drive north to Shark Bay where it is at least 10degrees warmer and not raining.
Destination Shark Bay / Francois Peron National Park
Perth to Francois Peron National Park is 836kms, not a huge distance by Australian standards, but still a reasonable drive.
42 degrees and flies
Late last year when I was driving sought down the Western Australian coastline the daytime temperatures were getting up to around 42 degrees and a strong wind was blowing millions of flies from the outback to the coast - it was NOT pleasant.
AS a consequence and because I needed to catch a flight out of Aussie to return home to NZ, I drove that distance in just over a day.
Returning north in winter
This time it is June, it is cold and wet in Perth and I want to be in the warmth and sun, so I am taking a more leisurely approach to the distance between Perth and my destination: Shark Bay.
No flies, and a little bit cold, but also stunning sunrises and sunsets, turquoise blue water and beautiful landscapes to be enjoyed on the journey north.
The image below shows the spot I found for my first night's stealth camping out of Perth on my journey north, stunning location and my sheltered spot in the dunes was still close to the road, but well concealed.+
Thanks for joining me, more fun exploration to follow as I explore Francois Peron National Park in the next post/video.
