After sleeping on the cold metal floor of the Landy last night I decided my priority today was to get the bed in the Landy so after a quick trip to Bunning's to buy a couple of sheets of form ply and I began.
I decided to keep a fairly open structure under the bed base rather than compartmentalising it with a pull out/hinged section in the bed base to permit access to the storage underneath.
Loads of weird little angles and corners to work around in cutting the timber for the platform.
So for this, I did use cardboard to create a template before I cut the timber.
To reduce the amount of timber, and therefore the gross vehicle mass (weight) I decided to support the base by resting it on a steel L-bracket.
This was riveted into place by first removing the existing rivets and replacing them, this time through the bracket.
A simple but really effective way to support the base...
The ease with which you can drill out rivets and replace them like this is just one of many reasons why I love Landy's!
And here it is... not yet sanded, but more or less put together and in place.
Tomorrow I will start on the kitchen bench....
