So before you make any wise cracks... no I was not doing any shenanigans in my bed... but sitting too heavily on it the other day somehow cracked one of the supporting frames.
I pulled out the old framework last night thinking I could repair it, but sadly no. Its time to replace it.
So bed base out of the truck, clean slate to rebuild.
There was a lot of red desert dust hidden away behind the old frame. !!!
One day I may need to strip everything out entirely and waterblast the interior!... but for now the scrubbing its had will have to suffice.
Got a sheet of 15mm ply and the tools.
Have made the measurements...
Now it's time to re-measure and start cutting.
I was very pleased with how quick the cutting process was, and the fact that it actually fit perfectly into the interior as measured.... I admit that is not always my experience with my measuring / cutting !!
Here is the constructed bed/storage framework out of Lulu, just about to add 2nd layer of stain/varnish.
I admit it was quite a relief that the framework actually fitted back into the truck in one piece. PHEW!
And here it is installed and in use.
Yeeha. Strong stable bed & storage area that I also think looks lovely.
Next will be to remove the kitchen cabinetry and stain it the same darker colour that I used on the bed base so they match.
Camping time :)
I know you said you'd put on weight, but seriously?! 😍
