There is so much to explore in the Great Sandy National Park in Queensland's Sunshine Coast, especially if you have a 4x4 and enjoy finding your way along sandy/dirt tracks set amidst native forest - which of course I love so much!
Sadly I have lost all my original video footage and many photos from my time exploring this region - silly me spilling hot tea over my laptop, just after downloading all my original footage and before I had backed it up!... so this post is a very quick little post about the Great Sandy National Park, in particular Harry's Hut.
This screenshot shows the location of Harry's Hut relative to Rainbow Beach in the North and Noosa to the south.
The coloured lines show the trails/roads I drove while there.

The back country roads leading to Harry's Hut are lovely to drive and worth it alone for the scenery.
I spent an hour or so paddling up the creek, which as you can see from the photo below was perfect glass.
There are signs warning of bull sharks in the creek, and as the water was quite dark, i.e. could not see into it very far, I most definitely did not swim in it and was very careful to not fall off my paddleboard. There were quite a lot of kayakers enjoying with water with me the day I was there.
I did not stay in the camp ground there,
but went off exploring along sandy trails
and found a lovely secluded spot in the park.
This wild dog/dingo came out of the wilderness in the evening and passed by my camp site.
Sadly it did not spend long and the low evening light made it very difficult to get a clear photo, but I really wanted to still share the picture here with you.
Was great being out in the park, camping by myself, to be joined by this local, even just for the short time it spent with me.
Do I recommend going here?
Yes. Take a picnic, mosquito repellent and your kayaks and enjoy.
I am so sad I lost all the video footage of my paddle up the river, the driving the sandy trails, if you had seen it you would most definitely want to go, I hope you still do!
