Although my primary focus for the past two weeks has been preparation of Lulu the Landy for my planned exploration, I have of course been to the beach every day and done a little exploring.
Based at a mates place near Lennox, this little video shows the 'path to the beach' from his place... a path I took most mornings at sunrise to greet the day.
It was not unusual to meet this friendly creature on the walk to or from the beach.
Needless to say I had no interest in going 'shopping'... not really my thing, but instead explored the local trails and beaches.
The following are some images from my explorations in this area.
The image of the prawn is the iconic symbol for Ballina and is located outside the Bunnings store... if you look at that image you will see the Landy parked underneath the sign which gives some indication of the scale of the prawn.
Those of you who followed the earlier portion of my adventures will recall how the very first beach I found my way to in South Australia turned out to be a clothes-optional beach...
Well I somehow managed to do it again... check out this little video.
On a return trip from Tweed Heads I cruised some of the coastal road and found myself at this lovely spot for Sunset. Hastings Point.
While fish n chips are not something I normally buy//eat... I made an exception to that rule while at Hastings Point.
I do recommend the fish n chips at the Hastings Point General store,
which also has some lovely locally
produced craft items for sale such
as this little basket purse which is practical as it is gorgeous.
I want to return to the area and explore the numerous waterways and beaches along that coastal strip, but I think I will wait till after the xmas rush as I am fairly confident the area will be overrun with holiday makers at that time.
Byron Bay area is renowned for its 'culture' and beaches, but do be sure to go for a walk in the surrounding rain forests... they are stunning.
