"It's unaustralian not to stop at an outback pub"

Thank you Col for the advice Massive shout out to Col, proprietor of the Eulo Queen Hotel in Eulo for his friendly service and helpful advice.

Eulo is a very small settlement you will pass through when heading west towards the desert from Cunnamulla.

Population 48.

Before you approach the town you will pass this sign and after having stopped there personally I confirm the Eulo Queen Hotel is worth stopping in.

Typically I don't stop in pubs, can't really explain it, except its not normally my 'thing'.

This hotel is light and airy, beautifully presented and its worth going in just to meet Col who runs the Hotel and the clean/tidy camping ground behind it.

As you can imagine the conversation in small towns like this begins naturally with "where you headed?" and sitting with my ginger beer chatting with the two other patrols and Col that is what we discussed.

Once I mentioned my plans to head to Currawinya and then onto Innamincka and the desert the discussion turned to which roads where open, which were good to travel and which were down right unsafe...

Note that unsafe out here can very quickly translate to life-threatening as I learnt from a story Col told about a couple who did not local heed advice and followed a route they were told was impassable in their ill-prepared vehicle, only to be rescued near-death days later when they were found (very fortunately) by a station worker.

With that to inspire me as an example of what-not-to-do we poured over maps plotted out routes and discussed timing.

Col showed me the best roads to take and points about what to look out for along the way to maximise my tour.

Yes I am a nurd.

Of course I wrote it all down & marked it on my map.

My handy little notepad is filling up with excellent tips from locals on where to go / what to do / must see locations.

Brilliant, thank you Col ! I promised I would heed his advice regarding the best roads to take and I will make a point on this trip to call into the outback pubs I pass on my way,
