Imagine three days of Aboriginal dance troupes competing, sitting near the arena's edge watching, listening and learning.
The Laura Quinkan Festival is a wonderful experience and I share some moments from the performances with you in the video at the end of this post, but here now are some images from the event.
Making friends
I did not go to the festival with the intention of making friends, but that is exactly what happened and my experience of those friendships are as much a part of my 'experience' of the festival as the dancing.
Thank you to those warm welcoming beautiful people that I camped next to, sat next to and enjoyed time with - you know who you are!
Even more unexpected....
One moment I am sitting watching the performers, taking photos and video with my camera on a tripod in front of me, then the next minute I have a beautiful young aboriginal girl joining me to sit on my lap, play with the camera on the tripod and chat merrily away with me., and she spent much of the next two days doing exactly that!
Her and her cousin discovered one of our nearby spectator neighbours had a baby wallaby in a pouch and the two girls had fun feeding and cuddling the baby - there they are. Stunning smiles.
Video
And of course, here is the video, enjoy.
Tania we didnt know about this festival, will put it on our "to do" list..... happy travelling R n M
