Mount Edwards & the best camping store in Aussie

Of course, with a name like Mount Edwards I had to go check it out, it is my surname after all.

The walk up the little mountain (632m) which is in the Moogerah Peaks National Park is accessed by walking across the damn at Lake Moogerah. The track is well formed, easy to follow and a steady climb leading to large views from the top.

On route to this little mountain I stopped in the very delightful little town of Boonah.

The little rural town was a bustling hive of activity the day I visited, with a mellow vibe that made me think I could easily live there.

This view was further enhanced by a visit to the Far Outdoors an outdoor shop extraordinaire.

Truly, this small store had a huge selection of everything that you actually need plus a bit more that you didn't know you needed until you went in there.

I've been into a lot of camping/outdoors shops and I rate this as the best outdoor shop ever. (No I am not being paid to say that)

My adventure up Mt Barney had showed me I needed some better walking shoes and I really wanted a wide-brimmed rainproof/sun hat.

Teresa Cause not only runs the Far Outdoors shop, she is a guide was able to fit me with the exactly right pair of shoes. I also bit the bullet and bought the hat I wanted, a lot more $$ than I expected to pay (my choice to buy the fancy top of line one) but the hat has been amazing.

Teresa's guiding business is called Horizon Guides. From the very informative conversations I had with Teresa while in the shop, I imagine her guided tours would be well worth doing.

The walk up Mt Edwards was the 1st walk in my newly purchased boots, they did well and it felt great to have excellent tread underfoot.

I must tell Teresa that the hat is not only great in the rain, it works well in the surf too !!

Tired and keen to find a camping spot for the night I was pleased to discover Yarramalong Park, although when I began driving along the farm track I was not sure what to expect at the end....

It was great to sleep the night at the base of Mt Edwards.

Will I climb another mountain tomorrow, maybe not....
