Never seen an airport like that before

One of the funny things with travel is that despite all the preparation and planning, when the departure day finally arrives it always seems so unreal, as if it isn’t actually happening, but it is.

I had packed my bags about 5 days beforehand, allowing me enough time to review/reconsider what I was taking as well as check its weight. Bags is not really the correct term, as my mountain-bike and a lot of gear ended up being packed into cardboard ‘boxes’, which I really really hoped would fit easily onto the luggage carts at the 4 airports I would be transitioning through today.

With international travel restrictions in place due to COVID-19 the Auckland international airport was an eerily quiet place.

Almost spooky.

No need to queue for anything as there was almost no one else in the airport terminal.

A long day’s travel from Tauranga NZ to get to where my vehicle has been parked these past 8 months at Tweed Heads New South Wales, flying through Sydney due to the Queensland Boarder restrictions.

Great day to view Sydney from the air

Flying into Ballina (pic below)- I am looking forward to exploring those waterways

Great to see Lulu again

Great to have my feet in the sand on a beautiful Australian beach.

Tomorrow I begin the refit of the Landy interior.
