Eagle Island is a very small island surrounded by shallow sand banks and coral reef in Far North Queensland and is a kite-surfing paradise, in my opinion.
Thanks to my kite-buddy Sharky for inviting Storm (the dog) and I to join him on a sailing/kiting trip.
Sharky parks his boat in the Annon River mouth, just south of Cooktown for several months of the year, and by park I mean park.
He has a sweet spot in the river mouth where he allows his beautiful catamaran Sharkbite to sit, keels touching the river bed during low tide.
Which makes for a super stable lifestyle onboard his yacht-home.
So when I was invited to join him on a sailing mission up the coast to the inner reef and spend a week kite-surfing, the answer was an obvious YES.
The sailing time was approximately 6.5 hours, cruising along at 8-10knots and was very pleasant.
I had not been on a yacht in almost 30 years and loved it. Storm, the dog I had rescued/adopted while living in Wujal Wujal also joined us on the journey and proved himself a sea-worth dog.
Join Storm and I here as we share the sailing journey and the beauty of the destination with you.
