Waste water, time to create a system

Yesterday's hot conditions must have affected me more than I realised because in the wee hours of the morning I realised I'm going to have to change the waste water tank (20 litre water container) I installed over the rear wheel yesterday after installing my sink.

As I was looking at it yesterday, I thought to myself "it looks wrong" but I couldn't really understand why... however at 3 a.m. my subconscious realised what was wrong (can't have a tank over the tyre) and how to sort it...

The other thing I will need to redo today is the hinges on the lift-up-section of my bed base that extends out/above my water tanks.

I put the hinges on the wrong way.

I couldn't seem to work it out yesterday. Duh.

One good thing from working out in 44 degrees is that I've learnt that with my new awnings up, that the inside of the vehicle stays a reasonable temperature.

It's still probably in the 30's inside the vehicle, but that is way more bearable than in the 40's!

So began a day by fixing up some of the things I did yesterday that I wasn't happy with.

Waste water system.... new design will be to use some 2nd hand PVC piping, join two lengths of pipe together, cut a hole for the sink pipe and one for the outlet pipe.

It is amazing how long it takes to do something simple like this.

My process was to:

Create a spacer/holder out of 2nd hand timber:

Used skill saw to do that.

  • cut out a little wooden platform for the two pipes to sit in, that will hopefully hold them in place/position and just equidistant from each other

  • doesn't look particularly pretty but it's going to be underneath the truck and no one's going to see it & its works well

  • pipes also held together with some of my surfboard webbing

  • drilled/cut a hole for the sink waste pipe

  • drilled/cut hole for waste water outlet

This little video shows some of the work that went into the system.

Waste water system installed and you can't even see it unless you bend down to look for it.

Mission complete.

Yeeha.

Long days:

Most mornings I'm out working between 6 a.m. & 7 a.m. before it gets too hot and I haven't really finished before 8pm the last 3 days.

So long days, really hot conditions (40 plus degrees). Making sure I drink lots of water as well as hosing myself down just to keep my head cool.

Try and do not make supposedly intelligent decisions at the end of the day when I'm not actually intelligent and don't function at all.

I'm going to go and sleep in the tent on my back lawn again, just because I can, & because it's a clear star filled evening.

Tip of the day Eat more frozen mango

Blooper of the day Walking face first into my awning... cut and bruising above my lip

Kindness experience for the day

My neighbours asked me if I would like some of the wine they had left over from Xmas. ..well... yes thank you. 2 bottles of wine... lucky me.
